WHAT IS CBD OIL?
CBD is short for cannabidiol and is an oil extracted from Cannabis Sativa, a plant that has existed for over 60 million years.
In the Cannabis plant we find almost 500 natural substances, 66 of which are called cannabinoids. CBD is one of the main compounds.
Our CBD oils are not psychoactive as they only have trace elements of THC, the substance that gives intoxication. It allows you to get all the medical benefits of cannabis without getting intoxicated.
HOW DOES CBD OIL WORK?
CBD acts on the receptors that stimulate the response to organs and the nervous system in the body.
CBD should not be used as medicine, but is intended as a dietary supplement.
As with most natural preparations, the body will respond differently to products. Don’t forget that we have a unique endocannabinoid system and therefore we respond differently to the intake of CBD oil.
WHAT ARE ENDOCANNABINOIDS?
Endocannabinoids are natural, chemical compounds found within the body.
This system consists of a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors located throughout the body, but highly concentrated in certain regions. They function as small molecules that bind to the receptors.
The endocannabinoids are found in the brain and through the central nervous system. These receptors are involved in a variety of physiological processes, including appetite, pain sensation, mood, memory, and mediation of the psychoactive effects of cannabis. The receptors are also involved in voluntary training, rewards or the feeling of, for example, “runners high”.
Endo (meaning inside the body) and cannabinoid (the active ingredient of cannabis to which the receptors react).
ECS plays an important role in our internal biological system. It influences appetite, metabolism, immunity changes, communication between the cells and much more.
HOW DO THE ENDOCANNABINOIDS WORK?
These receptors are located on the surface of the cells. If we think of these receptors as a keyhole, they will only work when you insert the correct key.
There are many types of receptors, but only two of them have been extensively studied and researched. They are CB1 and CB2.
The CB1 receptors are abundantly present in the brain and spinal cord. They are associated with influencing behavior, and are found in the hypothalamus and amygdala. They are responsible for regulating appetite, managing stress and anxiety, limiting nausea, pain relief, as well as processing memories and emotional responses.
The CB2 receptors are usually found in the cells of the peripheral nervous system immune system. Upon activation, they trigger an immune response to inflammation.
WHAT IS CANNABIS SATIVA?
Cannabis Sativa is the botanical name of the plant species. There are several types of cannabis, such as marijuana and industrial hemp.
WHAT IS MEDICAL CANNABIS?
Medical cannabis came to the scene in 1839 after an Irish doctor named William Brooke O’Shaughnessy traveled to India where he learned to use cannabis as medicine for his patients.
Medical cannabis was used on it for everything from epilepsy and pain relief to “mood disorders”.
IS HEMP OIL THE SAME AS CBD OIL?
The answer is no.
Hemp oil is made from the seeds of the Cannabis plant. This oil contains none of the cannabinoids THC or CBD. It is possible there are trace elements of CBD in the hemp seeds, but since the hemp oil is pressed there will be no significant amount of CBD left.
CBD oil, on the other hand, has a natural content of terpenes, flavonoids, cannabinoids and other beneficial plant nutrients from the whole plant.
WHAT IS THC?
THC is the abbreviation for tetrahydrocannabinol which is a psychoactive substance, it gives you intoxication.
WHAT WILL IT SAY IT IS CO2 EXTRACTED?
A good quality oil goes through a separation process from the whole plant to get the effective substance from the oil. CO2 recovery is the purest and most costly method of excreting cannabinoids. CBD oil is produced by heating it gently so that THC evaporates.
The end result is a pure cannabidiol oil which is a non-psychoactive substance (which acts mainly on the central nervous system).
WHAT DOES FULL SPECTRUM MEAN?
That the oil encompasses a wide range of cannabionoids found in the cannabis plant. The cannabinoids work better when they are more together and will give a better effect. Therefore, it is recommended that a good quality CBD oil should also contain a low amount of thc. In all MELS Premium cbd oils we have tracers at a 0.2% content of thc.
WHAT ARE CANNABINOIDS?
Cannabinoids are natural chemical compounds found in some types of foods and some herbs. The highest concentration is Cannabis Sativa.
HOW CANNABINOIDS WORK?
The cannabinoids produce physiological effects by connecting to specific receptors on the surface of the cells, called the cell membrane. These different receptors are found in the central nervous system, and the two main types are CB1 and CB2.
The various cannabinoids are classified as psychoactive. For example, CBG, CBC, and CBD are not known to be psychologically active agents, while THC, CBN, and CBDL are known to have varying degrees of psychoactivity.
The one with the highest concentration of cannabinoids is CBD (Cannabidiol), which is believed to have a sedative effect and counteracts the psychoactive effects of THC.
CAN WE TREAT COMPLAINTS AND SYMPTOMS WITH CANNABINOIDS?
So far, preliminary studies have indicated that CBD (often with the help of other cannabionoids such as CBD, CBDA, CBG / CBGA) can help stimulate appetite (for example, in illness and treatment), relieve pain and inflammation, reduce nausea, ease anxiety, improve sleep quality, fight viruses and viral infections, relieve muscle spasms and give a general feeling of well-being in the body.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I TAKE?
We humans are unique and just as different on the inside as we are on the outside. We each have our own endocannabinoid system that responds differently. Therefore, it pays to start small so that the receptors can slowly but surely get used to the cannabinoids.
We recommend that you start with 1 drop per day for the first few days. If you are unsure whether to choose between 5% and 10%, we recommend starting with 5% the first time you take cannbinoids. This is because the body fails to absorb too much at first.
If you are a man of about 90 kg you should take about 20-33 mg of cbd every day.
If you are a woman of about 65 kg you should take about 15-25 mg of cbd every day.
DO I GET THE BEST EFFECT BY TAKING A LOT AT A TIME?
No, the body can only absorb what your receptors can absorb, so we recommend starting small and gradually increasing over the next few days until you get the desired effect.
HOW DO I KNOW THE OIL WORKS ON ME?
In most cases, the feedback is that sleep gets deeper. Increased energy is also a typical symptom of the oil working. Since we have a unique endocannabionoid system, the effect will also vary from person to person.
ARE THERE SIDE EFFECTS?
Some reported side effects of cannabidiol include dry mouth, upset stomach the first couple of days, low blood pressure, light headedness, and drowsiness. This will pass.
